Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is set to sign a three-year contract with Barcelona, according to reports. Wijnaldum’s agent Humphry Nijman was pictured leaving the Nou Camp offices on Tuesday morning. The Holland international will leave Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been linked with Wijnaldum in the last 24 hours.
But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has tweeted the news that the player will be moving to Barca instead.
Romano wrote: “Gini Wijnaldum is set to join Barcelona as a free agent until June 2024 – there’s nothing agreed with FC Bayern, he wants to sign for Barca. Last details and… here we go soon!”
Spanish TV station El Chiringuito TV also captured images of Wijnaldum’s agent leaving the Nou Camp.

The former Newcastle star said he wanted to stay at Liverpool but could not agree a new contract.
Wijnaldum wrote: “It’s really emotional for me right now, I’m very happy that we managed to get the third place and secure Champions League football for the club next season.
“On the other hand I’m fighting back tears, the people in Liverpool have showed me so much love in the last five years. It’s very hard to say goodbye.
“The prizes we won, fans singing my name, I will never forget the amazing things we achieved with this fantastic club. We shared unforgettable moments together, no one can ever take that from us.
“I would have loved to remain a Liverpool player for many more years, but unfortunately things went different. I have to start a new adventure.
“I didn’t sign somewhere else, everyone knows in football everything can happen. The situation right now is that as of July 1st, I’m not a Liverpool player anymore. We will see what I will do in the next couple of weeks. I will rest a little bit and then go to the national team.
“I will have a look at my story and how everything went. The fans deserve to know the story behind it. Thank you for everything, I will miss you #YNWA.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also paid tribute to Wijnaldum in his programme notes ahead of Sunday’s match.
Klopp wrote: “This is hard to write because you never say never and at the time of writing this, he has not confirmed his intentions for next season. But I must recognise him just in case this is his Anfield farewell.
“Gini Wijnaldum. An LFC legend now and forever. What this person – this wonderful, joyful, selfless person – has done for our team and club I cannot sum up in words, in truth, because my English is not good enough.
“He is an architect of our success.
“We have built this Liverpool on his legs, lungs, brain and his huge, beautiful heart.
“If – and it is still if – he goes, he does so knowing we as his teammates are eternally grateful for having this special human being come into our lives. I love him and he will always be family.
