After being diagnosed with lymphoma last fall, Jeff Bridges now says his tumor “drastically shrunk.”
In a post on his official website shared Wednesday, Bridges wrote he went to the doctor last week for a CAT scan “to see if my new protocol is shrinking my tumor.” The 71-year-old actor announced in October that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.
He left with good news: “Turns out, it’s working beautifully,” he wrote. “The thing has drastically shrunk.”
Bridges’ appointment was Jan. 6, the same day that a pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol in a deadly attack. The actor, who at the time was “elated with the news” about his own health, arrived home to learn what had happened in Washington, D.C.
“To see our country attacking itself broke my heart,” he wrote. “A question rose in me – what’s an individual to do in a situation like this? My mentor, (late artist) Rozzell Sykes, came to mind. His mantra was BE LOVE.”
Through his health battle, Bridges has kept that mantra while sharing updates with his fans and thanking the public for their support and well-wishes.
“As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light,” wrote Bridges in October, referencing his 1998 cult classic “The Big Lebowski.” “Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good.”
He added later that month: “This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of preciousness, & gratitude, & good old fashion love, & lots of it, big time. I’m feeling so much of it comin’ my way, & man, I appreciate it. It’s contagious, all this love, like some kind of positive virus. I want to acknowledge & thank you guys for reaching out during this time. It feels good, getting all the well wishes & love!”
More recently, he debuted a shaved head in an Instagram photo last month with Monty, his new puppy.
“Feeling good,” Bridges wrote in the caption.
