That’s why travel experts at Air Advisor have revealed the four steps you should take if you lose your bags and also provided advice on how you can prevent your luggage from going astray.

Firstly, if you don’t see your luggage on the baggage carousel at the airport, ask at the help desk or find an airline rep.

They may be able to locate your luggage, tell you where it is and send it to the appropriate location.

Second, you should inform yourself of what the airline is going to cover.

This is helpful to know in the event that you need to buy replacement items for yourself.

Thirdly, you need to be sure that the airline has the correct address of where they are going to be sending your luggage if and when they relocate it.

Finally, once your claim is filed and you get yourself some replacement gear, make sure to keep your receipts.

The airline will need them so they can reimburse you for your new stuff.

Additionally, there are steps to take to prevent your luggage from being lost.

Start by avoiding checking a bag in the first place as sticking to carry-on luggage not only saves you money but means you don’t have to hang around at the baggage carousel.

There are also multiple devices available that may help you track your luggage, like Airtags.

Being proactive by preparing your luggage with a tag or tracker would help in the event that it is lost.

You will be able to use your phone to find out exactly where it is.
