Burnt pots and pans can be a chore to clean, with endless soaking in the hopes of removing the burnt on grime easier. While there are several methods for helping to shift burnt on food, among the best is using baking soda. So read on for three easy methods for cleaning burnt pots and pans.
Baking soda, white vinegar and water
Arm and Hammer suggest this method for more heavy-duty cleaning.
All you need to do is add white vinegar to baking soda and let kitchen chemistry help break down burnt food on your scorched pan.

Baking soda and water
If you have a scorched pan with burnt food, you can use baking soda and water to get the job done.
Arm and Hammer suggest removing as much food and debris from the pan as possible.
Make a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water, making sure to have enough to cover the scorched portion of the pan.
For a full pot bottom, try one cup baking soda and one third of a cup water.
Liberally apply the paste to the burnt pan, making it thick enough to coat fully.
You can also cover the bottom of the pan with a thin layer of warm water, then add enough baking soda to create a paste.
Let the mixture sit for a few hours or overnight, then add more baking soda and scrub with a nylon brush or scouring sponge.
If you don’t want to wait, add another quarter to half cup water to thin the paste then put the pan on the stove and let it come to a boil.
Remove it from the heat quickly – so as not to let it burn again. Let the pan cool and wipe or scrub to remove the scorched bits.
You can also use baking soda in this way to wash pots and pans regularly and help prevent scorched stains or burnt-on residue.
